How the seat map works

Seats before people
A seat is a piece of work the firm needs done every week, such as estimating, project management or safety. The map starts with eleven common seats in a commercial general contractor or construction manager. Rename them, remove the ones the firm does not have and add your own.
Who holds each seat
Each seat carries one name: yours, someone else’s or no one’s. One person can hold several seats, and the map shows that plainly.
Time share in words
For each seat with a name on it, you choose how much of that person’s week it takes: most of the week, part of the week, or covered when there is time. The map uses those words as you chose them and adds no hours or percentages.
Two lists pulled to the top
Seats you still hold lists every seat with your name on it, apart from your own seat as owner. Seats without an owner lists the seats with no name and the seats covered only when there is time.
Your order, your reasons
You pick the next hire from those two lists, in the order you would fill them. The map offers a question for each seat you pick and leaves the order to you. No reliable formula turns revenue or job count into a headcount, so active jobs and annual revenue appear on the sheet as context only.
Your entries stay with you
The map and the PDF are built in this browser tab. None of your names, seats or notes leave this page, and they clear when the tab closes. We count visits and PDF downloads with Google Analytics, which receives none of what you type.

Questions

What is a construction company org chart?

A construction company org chart shows the seats in the firm, who holds each one and how the office and field connect. The Seat Map version puts the owner’s name in every seat the owner still fills, so the sheet shows at a glance which seats carry the owner’s name, which carry someone else’s and which have none.

What does the Seat Map show about my next hire?

The map lists the seats that carry your name and the seats with no owner, and records the order you choose to fill them. Each seat you pick carries one question for you to answer in your own words. The order and the reasons are yours, and the sheet prints them as you entered them.

The Seat Map is made by AccuMRK, a recruiting firm for construction, architecture and engineering serving Greater Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey and Delaware.
